Rourkela: Tension ran high in Kundurkela village under Bhasma police limits in Sundergarh district today after a speeding bus mowed down a biker.
The deceased has been identified as Lalit Mohan Bag of Kainsa village.
As per the report, Bag who was returning home on his bike after completing some work in a nearby village was hit by a bus which was heading to Rourkela from Sambalpur carrying passengers head-on. It is being suspected that the driver of the bus lost control over the wheels due to excess speed due to which the crash took place.
As the victim died on the spot angry locals staged a road blockade and demanded compensation for his family members. Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road due to the protest.
Police arrived at the spot to send the body for autopsy and seize the bus.
