Malkangiri ADM goes on leave protesting for amenities

Malkangiri: Fed up of negligence by higher ranking officials and lack of attention, Malkangiri Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Ajodhyakant Satpathy has taken a leave; thereby protesting in a unique manner.

According to sources, Satpathy alleged that he has not been provided an official residence, vehicle and other governmental facilities since he joined as the ADM of Malkangiri.

“Though I have already informed the district Collector regarding my tribulations, there has been no response from his side till date. Working in the Maoist-prone areas is troublesome and insecure and therefore, I had informed my higher-ups about the issue. I expect the State government to take necessary steps so that officers like me feel safe to work here,” the ADM said.

The main reason for the protest was inferred to be the security concern in the Maoist infested region.

Ever since he took office in Malkangiri, he has been resentful over his posting and is looking for a way out from the designated area. Prior to this, he was posted as the manager at Odisha Sadan, Dwarka, New Delhi other sources alleged.

September 8, the ADM was seen traipsing a 1.5 km stretch to reach official from his current residence due to non-availability of sanctioned transport.

Sources said the rift between the district Collector and the ADM surfaced after eight BDO’s were relieved of duties post September 6.
