Police DG Reviews Security Arrangement For Vote Counting

Cuttack – : Police DG R.P Sharma on Saterday  reviewed the security arrangement for the counting of votes to the Lok Sabha and Assembly Election with concerned district police through a video conferencing at State Police Headquarters in Cuttack.

Sharma has asked the SPs to make full proof three-tier security arrangement in the counting centres as per the guideline of Election Commission of India (ECI). As per the arrangement, the strong rooms with EVMs will be guarded by Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) while the inner ring will be guarded by State Armed Police,

Sharma has advised concerned SPs to give requisition of extra security requirements in terms of manpower latest by Sunday.

At present 69 companies of CAPF have been deployed in different districts in guarding of strong rooms while another 12 companies of CAPF are expected to reach Odisha for counting. Similarly, as many as 172 platoons of Special Armed Police have also been arranged for counting.

Sharma has directed the SPs to open Control Rooms in the vicinity of counting centres equipped with VHF and other communication equipment. He has also asked the SPs to make additional arrangement of light and drinking water for the public outside the counting centre premises
